Objective: to find and analyze the mean of a data set using models and calculations
Watch BrainPop on Mean
InClass Activity: Create Flip Chart for Mean Median Mode & Range
Do Lesson 9-1 together. Discuss the Outlier of a data set.
Students will complete Practice 9-1 in class and/or finish as homework
(students may use calculators if needed)
Next WEEK: Data Analysis Continued
Warm Up: mean, medium, mode, range#2
Homework: IXL HH.1 calculate mean, median, mode and range
HW: IXL HH.2 Interpret charts mean, median, mode, and range
Song #3: mean, median, mode & range#3
Homework: HH.3: finding the missing number (backwards problem solving)
I-Ready Testing on Monday & Tuesday - All Math classes will Meet in Library - REmember Head Phones
WEDNESDAY: Warm Up.. Comparing & Ordering Integers L6-2
Introduce Grit Begin Measuring Data on Self to complete 6th grade Introduction Project.
What is Grit? Define in your own words...
Introduce GRIT....Grit 1, Grit 2, and Grit 3 What is a your Grit Score? Take Grit Score Survey
What type of DATA is your Grit Score? Introduce Quantitative vs Qualitative Data.
More ways to represent Data
Take Notes in Binder Quantitative vs Qualitative Data.
Form Teams and go through ground rules for quantitative data collection.
Inclass: Collect Qualitative Data on Self.
HW: Take Grit Score Survey - IXL Integers M.5 Compare Integers & M.6 Putting integers in order
Warm - Up: Qualitative vs Quantitative Data
Objective: Students will become familiar with all metric units by estimating and measuring in "Metrics " - Collect Quantitative and Qualitative Data on Self.
Review Ground Rules: Captains are responsible for making sure all group members make an estimate first before any measurements take place. Each student plus one member will make the measurements. Each student records data of actual measurement and finds the difference between estimate & actual measurement on chart.
HW: Different ways to represent data
Data and Graphs.. New Place in Binder
Warm Up: Metric System (Convert metric measurements...example 5 meters = ______ cm)
Notes on the Metric System - Ladder Method 1 & 2
Objective: Students will become familiar with metric units by estimating and measuring in a "Metric - Data Collection" on themselves.
Activity: Students will finish data collection at each station.
HW: Students will collect quantitative data from their classmates
HW: Estimating with the Metric System IXL T.2
Warm Up: Metric System Brainpop & questions Ted Metrics
Notes: Converting Metric Units - Make Foldable Use ladder method or ratios to solve for metrics
Complete Collecting class Data
Inclass Activity: Metric Scavenger Hunt/Code WS-Conversions
HW: IXL T.7 Converting Metric Measurement
TUESDAY:Continue with data analysis... mean, median, mode & range
Warm - Up: Metric Conversion/Flashcards
Teach Song: Mean, Median, Mode & Range (Focus on Mean)
InClass: Analyze the mean of a data set using models & calculations. Identify Outliners
Work on Mean (Lesson 9.1 & Practice 9.1)
HW: IXL Bar Graphs GG.7 & GG.8
Find Mean, Median, Mode & Range of ONE measurement from quantitative class data set.
How do you represent data from our classmates? Prepare 2 graphs to represent class data..
Bring Ear Buds for I-Ready Testing (Math & Language Arts)
