Example #1: 4 + 3 = 7 Example #2: 5 + 8 = 13 When adding integers when the signs are different, subtract and take the sign of the larger number (the number that is farthest away from zero. Example #1: 4 + 8 subtract = 4 , farthest away from zero is 8 (positive)..... Answer = +4 Example #2: 6 + 14 subtract = 8, farthest away from zero is 14 (negative)..... Answer = 8 Subtraction When subtracting integers.... Remember KEEP, CHANGE, CHANGE then use addition rules 4 6 ...KEEP, CHANGE, SWITCH 4 + 6 Now use addition rules for signs are different 4 + 6 = 2 Multiplication & Division Rules () Negative times/or divide by a () Negative = + Positive Example 4 x 7 = 28 or 28/2 = 14 () Negative times/or divide by a (+) Positive = () Negative Example 4 x 8 = 32 or 6/2 = 3 THURSDAY: Outdoor Excursion FRIDAY: LA Activity with all groups HAVE A TERRIFIC SPRING BREAK!!!
