This quarter has flown by, and I am really excited for next quarter. We have all learned and done better day by day (Kaizen). This next quarter will reflect that.
We will not be going to the library this week, and the books we got last week will become due during Fall Break. Students are welcome to bring their books to school by Wednesday, and I will return them after school.
The 6th grade team is planning a FUN last day of 1st Quarter! We are going to have a beach day on Wednesday! Our plan is to leave school by 8:15 and return by lunch time. More details (where, etc) will be forthcoming.
Last week was Student Led Parent Conferences. This is the first time I have experienced these, and they were POWERFUL! I was so proud of the students as they were able to articulate their strengths and weaknesses. I am a believer!
I spent hours this weekend updating IXL (Math and Language Arts) to see what students are still missing assignments. Please be sure to check PowerSchool and see if your child is missing assignments. I will accept late assignments up until 10/11 midnight, for a reduced grade.
This week we will be wrapping things up for the quarter (although please note that Report Cards come out at the Semester).
In Math we will be writing our own raps (or poems, or songs) for the Divisibility Rules.
In Language Arts, we will be finishing up work on Subjects and Predicates, as well as finishing up a narrative writing we started last week. Students will have an opportunity to also illustrate their story.
In Science, students will be finishing up their Buoyancy/Gravity unit by floating their own boat, and talking about the effects of these scientific principles on their success or failures. These boats are due TUESDAY and are to be made at home. I can't wait to see them!
For Social Studies, we will be doing a fun introduction into our next unit, Ancient Egypt. Students will have $5,000 of virtual money to spend to travel to Egypt. They will find flights, hotels, and decide how to best spend their money to go see Ancient Artifacts.
As always, please contact me with any questions -
